Hey gang! I’ve been super busy writing for other blogs so I haven’t given much love to this site but, hopefully those guest posts will go live soon at which point I’ll link them.
Fall is almost here, yay, and there’s a lot more to look forward to than just pumpkin spice lattes. Here’s what’s on my to-do list, some events require advance sign up.
September 24th- Opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture
This museum has been a long time coming, and is so popular that time tickets are required!
September 24th- Opera in the Outfield
Enjoy a free outdoor performance of The Marriage of Figaro at the Nationals Stadium, RSVP to win tickets to a performance at the Kennedy Center.
August 19th- October 14th- FONZ (Friends of the National Zoo) Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Open for children under the age of 17 with two separate age categories (those under 7, and those older than 7 years of age). Pumpkins will go on display halloween weekend and the winner gets four free tickets to Boo at The Zoo!
Tickets go on sale: August 19th- October 14th
October 21st-23rd – Boo at The Zoo
Does anything sound more fun than trick or treating at the National Zoo? No, absolutely not, this event sounds like a blast. More than 40 treat stations, decorated trails, live entertainment and animal demos! The only scary thing would be to miss out.
Tickets: Non-member ($30/person 2 years and older, $20/parking) FONZ Member ($20/person 2 years and older, $10/parking)
Tickets go on sale: Non-member Sept 16th, FONZ member September 9th
October 26th- November 6th- Kids Euro Festival

November 5th- Library of Congress National Book Festival
This yearly event features your favorite authors from around the country all in one place, this year Stephen King is the keynote and free tickets are being distributed in advance here, starting September 14th.
