Family day at the Hirshhorn to provide a family friendly way to experience Kusama.

It feels like the Infinity Mirror exhibit at the Hirshhorn opened just yesterday, but almost three months have gone by and the exhibit will close on May 14th (sad face). The exhibit, a retrospective of Yayoi Kusama’s career was nearly impossible to get tickets to. But, there is still a way families can enjoy her work before the exhibit heads out.

Family Day: From a Moment to Infinity

This weekend the Hirshhorn will be hosting a free family day (April 30th from 10:00am-2pm) entitled Family Day: From a Moment to Infinity. While the family day will include crafts inspired from the Infinity Mirrors exhibit it will not include a tour. During a recent story time at the Hirshhorn I got to take a peek, literally, at a mini infinity room which staff at the museum have made in preparation for the event. Instructions on how to make a mini infinity room as well as orchid potting and a costume contest will be included at Sunday’s event.

The wall of orchids which inspired activities at family day.
