The Darcy Hotel opened recently in Dupont Circle in Washington DC. The hotel is simply gorgeous, and pays homage to its namesake the Jane Austin Character Fitzwilliam Darcy.
About the Darcy
The Darcy is a newly opened hotel with the Hilton Curio Collection. Located in DuPont circle, The Darcy is a beautifully designed hotel with small touches setting the property apart from the crowd. From the subtle messaging of the artwork to the detailed design of the hotel rooms, the Darcy delivers a luxury stay in a wonderful location.
Your stay at the Darcy will take place in a room or suite inspired by a man’s suit-jacket. Chairs are upholstered with suit material and lights are references to pearl earrings.
Cocktails are served nightly using locally sourced Green Hat Gin, you may stumble upon the occasional pop-up flower bar with Urban Stems and parents will be treated to boozy ice cream sandwiches from Captain Cookie and the Milkman
The Darcy has formed partnerships with local business to bring guest an authentic Washington DC experience. A partnership with Mario Rojas will help the crowd in suits look their best with hand delivered accessories and on call tailoring. Green Hat Gin and Element Shrub helps guests unwind at the end of their day. The pop up bar with Urban Stems brings a pop of color to the busy DuPont street and proceeds from the flower sales go to a charity for women.
Of note is their partnership with Captain Cookie and the Milkman. Because I care about bringing all the details to my readers I had to try both the regular and the boozy variety of ice cream sandwich, both were delicious.
Ooey and I had a playdate at one of the family suites that the Darcy offers and it was fabulous! Through Sept 4th the Darcy has an Ice Cream Suite for families with rates starting at $309/night.
Accommodations are well thought out as the Director of Marketing at The Darcy is a mother, her adorable child is pictured in this article. Families are able to rent out a push car for kids as they explore the city. And they may take with them one of the available themed backpacks. The backpacks are each centered on a theme from art to space and will help families explore the associated Smithsonian Museum attraction.
And the family suite is not all about the kids, a cocktail bar is available in the room. Weary parents can enjoy the signature Darcy cocktail alongside their boozy ice cream sandwich for the perfect end to a Washington DC outing.
On Site Dining
The Darcy is home to Siren, a farm to table seafood and raw bar restaurant from acclaimed chefs Robert Wiedmaier and Brian McBride. I was told that the restaurant has their eye on attaining a Michelin star, so you may consider eating there before it becomes impossibly hard to get into!
Additionally Lil B Cafe will open next month featuring Louisiana style fare, so touch back- I’ll be sharing details on that as the restaurant opens.
If you’d like to learn more about The Darcy you can find more details on their website, here. Ooey and I had a lovely time getting a taste of their family friendly amenities and can’t wait for our next visit back.
