Baltimore

Dora & Diego-Let’s Explore! is our favorite new exhibit at Port Discovery Children’s Museum in Baltimore Maryland.

My visit to Port Discovery was hosted by the museum. All thoughts and opinions are my own, I will blog about Port Discovery till the cows come home because it’s a great local destination for families! And thank you Port Discovery for having us, we love you guys!! Look for upcoming events at Port Discovery at the end of this post.

Port Discovery Children’s Museum in Baltimore Maryland is enormous! If you’ve not been with your kids you’re definitely missing out!

I’m a huge fan of Port Discovery Children’s Museum, three floors of totally interactive installations and traveling exhibits! The museum is about an hour from Washington DC and makes for a great day out. If you follow me on Instagram you know that Ooey and I recently did an overnight in Baltimore. Our first stop on that trip was to check out the newest traveling exhibit at Port Discovery, Dora & Diego- Let’s Explore.

Ooey with Dora the Explorer and all her friends.

Dora & Diego- Let’s Explore contains, by my count, seven interactive areas. There’s something here that’s sure to catch your kid’s attention; dress up, sail the high seas, play doctor to sick animals, climb a rock wall or explore the solar system. Dora is not only a great role model for kids, but the exhibit dedicated to her and her buddy Diego is incredibly well done and is sure to please your pre-schooler.

The exhibit takes up the entire third floor, be sure to visit the other side of the floor beyond the water room to see the Diego half.

Play doctor

Ooey is really into playing doctor at the moment. Her favorite part of this exhibit was hands down the medical clinic. The clinic has scanners, functioning blow dryers and compartments for all the animals that need care. Ooey suited up and got straight to work checking on the frogs and even some flowers that were not doing so well.

medical equipment is provided, and Ooey is ready to help some sick animals.

Flowers also get sick sometimes!

The frog gets a shot, I also got a couple of them too- Ooey has my back.

Doctor Ooey is here to help!

It’s important to dry off the animals after their treatments, anyway the dryers are a really fun feature.

Still having fun with the dryers!

Explore the solar system

Another fun theme was the solar system. There were “spacesuits” to wear and buttons to push to keep the space shuttle on track. Additionally the astronaut could put the starts back where they belong!

All aboard, next stop- beyond the Milky Way!

Have fun inside the spaceship with puzzles and fun facts!

Be sure to keep the scarce ship flying along smoothly, kids are in charge with buttons and a control panel.

When the starts are inserted into their spot in the night sky, they light up. This provides a very satisfying activity for toddlers.

Climb though the jungle

Children can explore the jungle with Diego and his leopard side kick in this area. Spot monkeys, climb though logs and even practice some rock climbing. This area encourages children to be active and to use those growing muscles.

Port Discovery presents Dora & Diego Let's explore at Port Discovery in Baltimore Maryland. The exhibit runs through February 19th 2018

This exhibit really encourages activity and the rock wall is a great place to blow off steam.

Explore the ocean

An indoor slide is always a good option. This one is designed to be an under water exploration pod. Ooey had a blast going up and down on this piece of equipment! We visited the exhibit late afternoon and she had this slide to herself.

Who’s ready to dive into the depths of the ocean?!

Almost there!

Hurray! Now to go down the slide a million more times.

Sail the high seas

The ship is on the other side of the floor, so be sure not to miss it! Kids can pretend to be captain of the boat and keep a look out for pirates or treasure!

Keep an eye out for treasure! The boat is a great place to sail the high seas and keep an eye out for pirates!

Room for babies to explore too

Port Discovery does a great job of creating baby friendly spaces. This exhibit has a little alcove with age appropriate toys and sensory activities. I also recommend checking out the exhibit one floor below that is dedicated entirely to babies!

Port Discovery presents Dora & Diego Let's explore at Port Discovery in Baltimore Maryland. The exhibit runs through February 19th 2018

Port Discovery does a great job of accommodating babies and this exhibit gives the tiniest visitors a space to safely play and explore.

We’ve now been to three temporary exhibits that Port Discovery has hosted; Thomas & Friends and Klutz’s Amazingly Immature.Ooey has loved all of them but Dora & Diego had us shutting down the museum. She did not want to leave, and I really enjoyed playing doctor and space ship with her! The exhibit will be up until next year so you have plenty of time to go, and with the cooler weather on it’s way this makes for the perfect indoor playtime adventure!
