The inauguration of the 45th president happens this weekend! If you’d like more information about that see, here, otherwise keep reading for some family friendly ways you may consider spending the weekend. Visit here for information about road closures. 

D.C. prepares for the inauguration with aptly named amenities.

Support Local Businesses

During inauguration weekend select businesses will be donating a portion of their proceed to charitable organizations such as; The Human Rights Campaign, Martha’s Table, Mary’s Center and Planned Parenthood. To find who is participating and where the proceeds will go check out the list, here.

Celebrate With a Story

The National Portrait Gallery pays homage to President Barack Obama by dedicating their Saturday and Sunday story-times to him. An art project will be included in this free event.

Saturday January 21st.

1-4pm, The Education Center at the National Portrait Gallery, website

March on Washington 

The Woman’s March on Washington is an inclusive event where people can come together to peacefully express their interest in protecting the rights of women and their families. Accoring to their website children are welcome and breastfeeding areas will be available. For more information, visit their website.
