Nine Places to Skate in and around Washington, D.C.

It’s hard for me to appreciate the winter without snow, it just feels like it’s cold for no good reason. So, in trying to appreciate the season I’ve compiled this list of local outdoor skating rinks and many of them stay open until mid March!  

~Washington DC~

  • November through mid -March The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden  is conveniently located on the mall and has an onsite cafe.

Smallest shoe size: toddler size 6 (single blade)

Skate aides: free, first come first serve

  • November through March The Washington Harbour Ice Rink located in Georgetown is a great place to take in sweeping views of the Potomac River, Theodore Roosevelt Island and the Kennedy Center.
