You gotta try this, a recap of Taste of DC

The annual foodie festival, Taste of DC happened this past weekend at RFK stadium. It’s the perfect place to nibble on something new or have an old favorite. There were DC classics like Ben’s Chili Bowl and Sprinkles Cupcakes amongst places I’d never tried like, Cassava Boba and the Oyster Truck.

I mentioned in my last article about Taste of DC that I’d partnered with them so, you may now refer to me as Tina the Tastemaker. As a Tastemaker Ambassador I enjoy complimentary VIP passes. The VIP passes have perks like separate festival entry, private pavilion and extra restrooms. The VIP passes are definitely nice, but not necessary to have a great time. We chose to go on Sunday morning as soon as the festival opened. We were treated to no lines and were able to beat the heat!

If you missed this event fear not, Taste of DC is expanding it’s menu so to speak with festivals throughout the year. The tentative schedule is:

  • November 2017 Holiday Market
  • December 2017 Cocktail Countdown New Years Eve
  • April 2018 Cherry Blossom Food and Wine Festival
  • July 2018 Red White & Brew Festival
  • September 2018 Drink the District Wine Festival
  • October 2018 Taste of DC

Stop one, District Doughnut

To be honest, I was going to focus on the savory at this event, but creme brûlée doughnuts. How are you gonna pass that up? You can’t. They were soooo good.

Boba is the bomb, we had to wash down that doughnut and these did not disappoint. I had a Jasmin green tea and Martin had the Chai.

Where to find them

Cassava Boba has no brick and mortar store so find them by checking there schedule, here.

Martin spent some of his childhood in Louisiana so he loves the cuisine. The shrimp po boy was so good I almost didn’t get a bite. Also on their menu were Alligator hot dogs.

Stop five, Pinch Gourmet Chinese Dumplings

I love dumplings, it’s carbs and meat and sauce, yum! I had the pork and they were gone in all of two seconds.

Stop six, Cookie Dough & Co.

Another siren call from the sweets, raw cookie dough! I opted to go with a cup even though I could have had a cone full of cookie dough with a shot of milk. Safe to eat raw cookie dough is a brilliantly delicious idea!

Stop seven, Oyster Truck

I was most excited to have oysters, it’s been a while! I had the choice of east or west coast oysters and with with east coast assuming they’d be more fresh. They were so good we used the last of our tokens to buy more.

Where to find them

They’re out of a food truck, here for location.
