ARTECHOUSE first wowed Washingtonians with its inaugural exhibit, XYZT: Abstract Landscapes. Now, Washington DC’s newest independent art house is back with a new exhibit, SPIRIT OF AUTUMN. The second exhibit continues the trend of showcasing digital technology that brings people together. The exhibit is interactive and some parts require team work to activate features. Notably the exhibit features augmented reality cocktails!
Making it rain
Unlike a traditional exhibit SPIRIT OF AUTUMN requires participation. Museum goers will find that they are in control of the space. As they walk, technology will follow. In some areas multiple people can come together to create rain or thunder storms.
Leaf your mark
The walls of the exhibit are comprised of digital leaves that move around by participant interaction. Something that I thought was totally cool, and that is going to be super cool for kids, is the ability to add your own leaf. In the back of the exhibit is a room of picnic benches where visitors can color a leaf, however they wish and then have it scanned in. In a moment of artistic genius I wrote my husband’s name on a leaf, not creative but I’m excited to show it to him when we return for the adults only night.
Augmented reality cocktails
One of the coolest features of the exhibit are the augmented reality cocktails. By downloading the ARTECHOUSE app visitors can add a flourish of leaves to their cocktail. The app is in its early stages but expect more from its features in the coming months!
